本作為以 DC 漫畫的超級英雄－蝙蝠俠為主角的《蝙蝠俠：阿卡漢》系列最新作，也是 Rocksteady Studios 負責開發的系列最終作。2009 年發行的《蝙蝠俠：阿卡漢療養院》（アーカム・アサイラム）曾以「至今獲得評價最高的超級英雄遊戲」登上金氏世界記錄；2011 年的《蝙蝠俠：阿卡漢之城》（アーカム・シティ）也在 metacritic.com 榮獲當年度最高評價的動作遊戲。
