電腦硬碟如何安裝?

請電腦達人幫幫忙~
我現在新的電腦系統是WIN7,
之前XP的舊電腦裡有顆新裝的硬碟是備份資料用的,
現在我想把這顆硬碟裝到新電腦裡,讀取裡面的備份資料
硬碟介面是SATA,我看著新電腦裡硬碟的安裝方式把舊硬碟裝上去
電腦卻沒有偵測到,是需要做什麼設定嗎?新電腦主機板是華碩H81M-E
請問我該怎麼做?
我是個電腦白痴,請用最淺顯易懂的方式教教我
