德州內戰意外引發兩隊口水之爭，且出現高達109次罰球，火箭最終靠著菜鳥帕帕尼古拉烏於終場前0.2秒3罰俱中，111比108在客場絕殺小牛。

雙方激烈的肢體對抗導致裁判不停響哨，共出現81次犯規，小牛64罰得到47分，火箭45罰29中，兩隊鏖戰到最後仍是在罰球線上分勝負，裁判的哨音成為整場比賽第一個焦點。

第二個焦點則是火箭總教練麥克海爾，他在賽前雖然期許前子弟兵「高富帥」帕森斯能在小牛有一個好的發展，不過，麥總卻得理不饒人的揶揄帕森斯，「我總算聽不到他為了爭取合約金額的聲音了。」

帶著3年4500萬美元合約來到達拉斯的帕森斯，攻下全隊最高14分，一度在5分鐘內連拿9分，幫助球隊超前比數。對於前教頭的譏諷話語，帕森斯強硬回應，「他的戰術與招式得趕快更換才行，因為我再熟悉不過了。」

夾在好友帕森斯與教練麥克海爾中間的「大鬍子」哈登表示，「帕森斯的處境我也曾經歷過，所以能體會他想要追求表現的作法，從這場比賽看得出來，他準備得很好。」

帕森斯透露應球隊要求夏天增重了10公斤，球季開打後偶爾要肩負大前鋒位置。「我對於火箭還是有很深的情感，非常期待11月23日帶領球隊回到休士頓，那裡有我滿滿的回憶。」
