新聞辭典／沃爾夫獎

沃爾夫獎被譽為諾貝爾獎的前哨站，成立於1976年，由著名猶太工業家列卡度沃爾夫（Ricardo Wolf）創辦，主要獎勵農業、化學、數學、醫學、物理與藝術方面的傑出貢獻人士。

該獎每年由以色列沃爾夫基金會選定，由以色列總統親自頒授，今年6月1日正式頒獎，得獎者將從諾貝爾和平獎得主、現任以國總統希蒙‧裴瑞斯手中接下獎項。

過去獲得沃爾夫的台灣人僅有二位，包括中研院前副院長楊祥發院士曾於1991年獲沃爾夫農學獎、2010年中研院士丘桐獲數學獎；翁啟惠是第三位出生於台灣拿到沃爾夫獎，也是首位在台灣工作而獲得這個獎項的科學家。
