美國爆料者史諾登意外現身溫哥華的TED大會，引發現場騷動。他透過1台連接網路的行動螢幕向在場觀眾發言，本人當然還在俄國。

這台機器看起來像裝了輪子的電視，名稱是「遠程出席機器人」，也許有一天，我們都會跟史諾登一樣用這種機器人上班或參加社交活動。

使用者透過iPhone、iPad或者麥金塔電腦遙控這具機器人，因為它可以移動，使人跟人之間的影音視訊增加真實感，用途包括跨國商務會議，探訪住在遠方的親友。甚至有專家預言，機器人可能取代真人會面，成為維繫情感的工具。

譬如希望知道老爸老媽近況的子女，擺一台遠程出席機器人在爸媽家，可看到他們的生活情況即時影像，假如爸媽起身走動，機器人也能跟著移動。
