聲明表示，2月底反擔保金借款目標雖達陣，他心中恐慌卻到了最高點，「一群人未經我同意，擅自幫我向另一群人借一筆我可能要花上20年才能償還的款項，將這筆錢存進法院，然後以不負任何責任的保證，好像法院是他們開的、法官是他們管的姿態昭告天下，這筆反擔保金一定會返還？」
王耀德說，他沒辦法為了提供都更盟抗爭空間，而樂意背債上千萬、甚至上億，若他沉默未來只有三條路，一是像乞丐一樣向社會募款賠給建商，二是向建商跪地求饒放一條生路，最後是走投無路投河自殺，衡量所有狀況後，拆除組合屋變成他唯一的選擇。
