大都會與運動家進行系列賽首戰，大都會火力全開，轟出4發全壘打，加上老將Bartolo Colon掛帥先發，投出8局失1分的優質內容，封鎖運動家攻勢，終場大都會以10比1砲擊運動家。

大都會先在2局下靠Curtis Granderson、Chris Young演出「背靠背」全壘打，灌進3分，緊接著在第3局，又靠Granderson敲安、Travis d’Arnaud的3分砲，吃下4分打局，最後Young在5局下，轟出本場個人第2發全壘打。

前5局打完，大都會豪取8分，反觀運動家，僅在首局靠Yoenis Cespedes敲安攻回1分。

6局下，運動家投出一記觸身球，讓大都會有機可乘，接連敲出2支安打，攻下2分，本戰合計10分入袋，重創運動家。

41歲的Colon，再度證明「家有一老，如有一寶」，此役先發8局，耗球數112顆，好球數72顆，僅被敲出4支安打，飆出8次三振，1次保送，丟1分，拿下勝投，本季戰績8勝5敗，防禦率3.67。

這一戰，運動家派出剛擠下田中將大、成為美聯防禦率王的Scott Kazmir迎戰，未料僅投3局，慘遭狙擊，被敲8安，挨了3轟爆掉7分，防禦率從2.08來到2.66，將防禦率王拱手讓出，田中將大重拾寶座，Kazmir掉至第5，本季戰績9勝3敗。

大都會拿下近10場比賽第6勝，戰績36勝41敗，暫居國聯東區第4。運動家則吞下近期比賽2連敗，戰績47勝30敗，仍獨居美聯西區第1。
