「神之子」田中將大29日再次踢到鐵板，第9局被紅襪Mike Napoli敲出超前的陽春砲，力撐9局失2分苦吞完投敗，但也寫下個人開季連續16場優質先發的特殊紀錄。

上次出賽7局失3分吞敗投，田中將大今天(29日)再度掛帥先發，遇到紅襪的王牌投手Jon Lester陷入苦戰。

田中將大在第3局被David Ross敲出陽春砲，3局下洋基馬上扳平比數，接著雙方一路僵持到第9局戰況才有了突破。

9局上2出局，場上投球的還是田中將大，96英哩快速直球被Napoli掃出陽春全壘打，這1分最終決定了戰局。9局下紅襪推出上原浩治關門，3上3下沒給洋基反撲機會，紅襪以2比1贏球。

田中將大9局用116球(86好球)，被敲出7支安打8次三振，失2分都是因為陽春砲，苦吞本季第3敗(11勝)自責分率2.10、個人2連敗。

紅襪王牌Lester主投8局，被敲出5支安打失1分非自責分，拿下本季第9勝(7敗)自責分率2.92；日籍投手上原浩治收下本季第17次救援成功。
