彭蒙惠獲美華盛頓州公開表揚

（中央社記者許秩維台北2014年6月24日電）空中英語教育創辦人彭蒙惠，在台推動推動英語教育環境多年，今天獲美國華盛頓州代表正式表揚。

美國華盛頓州副州長暨參議長歐文等訪問團成員，今天下午到「空中英語教室」拜訪，歐文親自頒布華盛頓州議會的決議文正文，公開表揚華盛頓州西雅圖市市民、「空中英語教室」創辦人彭蒙惠。

歐文表示，彭蒙惠充滿活力，帶來快樂，一生付出給台灣教育，是人民模範，這次訪問團中的印地安部族代表，更贈送給彭蒙惠一頂充滿印地安風情的寬帽，及來自州議會建造時的紀念石，象徵來自華盛頓州的彭蒙惠將愛落腳台灣。

彭蒙惠也將獲得肯定的榮譽歸於畢生奉獻的上帝和她創辦的「救世傳播協會」團隊。

來台多年的彭蒙惠說，台灣就像西雅圖，能看見美麗大海和和友善人民，當年來到台灣，住在花蓮原民部落，就像家鄉一樣；她也秉持「台灣需要什麼就給什麼」的初衷，創辦救世傳播協會來推動「空中英語教室」和「天韻合唱團」的英語教育和音樂工作，為當時的台灣與國際接軌鋪路。
