數萬名群眾5月31日聚集於布吉納法索首都瓦加杜古的一個體育場，反對布國舉行公投解除總統任期限制，讓總統龔保雷明年得以尋求連任。

上月，龔保雷的支持者集會支持這項修憲公投，反對者因此發動31日的反公投集會。

龔保雷1987年發動政變上台。根據布國2000年頒布的憲法，總統為五年制，得連任一次。龔保雷2010年當選第二任期。
