不再續約 芝加哥大學停辦孔子學院

美國芝加哥大學(University of Chicago)宣布，停辦孔子學院(Confucius Institute)。在中國媒體報導芝加哥大學就孔子學院總幹事一事向北京屈服後，芝加哥大學決定不再續辦孔子學院。

芝加哥大舉和孔子學院的5年合約將在9月29日到期，芝加哥大學在25日發表聲明，在約滿後，不再續約。

聲明中說，芝加哥大學和孔子學院總部、也就是漢辦，已經持續數個月的良好交涉，並朝續約前進。

但中共官媒「解放日報」對漢辦主任、孔子學院總幹事許琳的一篇採訪報導使他們決定停止討論續約。芝加哥大學說，這篇文章「跟繼續平等合作不相容」。

這篇文章帶著吹噓的口吻寫道，「許琳的剛與硬，很多人都領教過。今年4月下旬，美國芝加哥大學百名退休教授聯名要求停辦孔子學院，許琳直接一封信寫給芝加哥大學校長、一個電話打給其駐京代表，只有一句話，『只要你們學校做決定退出，我就同意』。」報導指出，許琳的態度，讓校方決定繼續辦好孔子學院。
