世足G組預賽，美國以2：1擊敗迦納，復仇成功。

美國和迦納在過去兩屆世界杯成為「仇敵」，06年德國世足賽迦納擊敗美國，順利搶晉16強，2010年南非世足在8強賽迦納以2：1 再度淘汰美國，美國隊並不想在世界杯連續三次敗在迦納腳下。

美國獲勝之後氣勢大增，也打亂G組大勢，葡萄牙被德國痛宰之後，美國又擊退迦納，晉級情勢看好。
