Google買無人機製造商 擴大網路服務

Google14日宣布收購無人機製造商泰坦航太公司（Titan Aerospace），顯示該公司積極拓展航空技術，以蒐集更多影像與提供更多人口上網服務。

Google並未透露確切交易細節。泰坦航太生產高空、太陽能驅動衛星，提供連接全球資料的服務。今年初臉書也表明有意收購泰坦。

Google正致力尋求新的方法，透過熱汽球計畫（Project Loon），為用戶提供網路服務。該計畫於去年推出，利用高空汽球與其他機器為郊外或偏遠地區提供全球網路連線服務。

無人機也提供地球的高解析度影像、導航與製圖服務，以及大氣監控系統等。

其他網路公司也開始用飛行機器進行實驗。臉書上月宣布收購生產無人機的英國航太業者Ascenta，打算替未開發地區提供連網服務。
