大聯盟37歲老將、生涯156勝投手賈西亞（Freddy Garcia），可望在月底前來台加入義大犀牛隊，月薪推估在5萬美元（約合台幣150萬元）上下，身價和去年的洋砲曼尼不相上下。

犀牛隊領隊謝秉育在合約未談定前，未向媒體透露人選，只表示這個「大咖」的合約已談得差不多，等到完全確定再正式公布。

謝秉育說，這位投手曾效力洋基、金鶯、勇士隊，去年還打過季後賽，是中南美洲球員，希望來台後帶動中職氣勢，定位先發投手。

據了解，犀牛找來的投手就是賈西亞，在大聯盟打過15季，戰績156勝108敗、防禦率4.15，2001年效力水手隊投出18勝，是個人單季最佳紀錄，年薪最高則是2007年在費城人隊1千萬美元。

賈西亞去年開季效力金鶯隊，和陳偉殷當過隊友，後來轉戰勇士隊，在季後賽首輪先發對決道奇隊。
