101年起國泰人壽慈善基金會承諾與共和社區發展協會合作展開「社區故事樹」的種樹綠化行動，率先在社區濕地種植百棵落羽松，102年持續在社區北面荖溪堤防600米的防汛道路旁種下150株的無患子，打造綠色生態環境。

今年選擇鄰近壽豐火車站的農墾街西側，種植100株樹形優美的福木。100歲簡媽媽是共和社區最年長的女性，在志工們的簇擁和協助下，栽種紀念母愛的故事樹，並親手為自己種下的樹掛上名牌，希望現場的志工一定要幫她好好照顧小樹長大；黃玉雪與先生合種「夫妻樹」，做為結婚27周年的紀念樹，她表示，連續3年結婚紀念日都合種夫妻樹，讓一家人的感情更甜蜜。

國泰人壽展業東台區部長李承昌示，社區故事樹的種樹行動，至今已深入全台26個鄉鎮，種下2萬多株的樹苗，希望在全球暖化與氣候變遷的同時，透過種樹綠化、減碳，共同保護地球。

南韓《中央日報》報導，歲月號客輪失事後的關鍵救援時刻，相關當局通報遲緩，導致南韓政府應對混亂。據傳事故發生39分鐘後，南韓安全行政部中央安全指揮室才以文字形式，上報總統府青瓦台。
