芝加哥小熊自從1908年奪冠之後，迄今已超過百年不知冠軍為何物，對此，正在與小熊交手的紅襪重砲David Ortiz指出，只要改變過多的白天賽程即可。

Oritz是在2003年Theo Epstein上任加盟紅襪，加上Kevin Millar、Curt Schilling等人，使得紅襪在2004年突破86年無冠魔咒，此後又在2007，2013年封王。

Oritz直言小熊要改的就只有白天賽程的部分。

「過去這些年來，我與幾位曾在小熊打過球的好友談過，其中1件每個人都會提到的就是賽程，他們會很高興加入熱愛棒球的城市，但當他們開始應付賽程時，這消磨了他們的心志。」

效力小熊多年、現回到老東家洋基的Alfonso Soriano就是Ortiz指名不喜歡繁複白天與夜晚賽程的球員之一。

小熊是大聯盟歷史最悠久的球隊之一，Wrigley Field直到1988年才引進燈光而有夜晚賽程，但因與居民過於鄰近，一開始只有18場，之後增加到30場，今年則首次到38場，但仍有5成3的例行賽是白天進行。

「信不信由你，這是這個球團成為贏家的最大問題，他們在主場打這麼多場白天比賽，然後去其它城市就得調整自己適應夜間比賽。」

「如果大聯盟其他球隊有與小熊相同的賽程那還沒關係，但一旦你打了1週的白天比賽然後下週得去另1城市打晚間比賽，然後你還要去西岸去調整時間，然後回到主場又打白天比賽，這對棒球員來說太痛苦了。」

年輕球員是比較沒有這方面的困擾，Ortiz則說：「你是可以把一票年輕球員放上去，但你還是需要老將，如果小熊想要做些有關贏球方面的改變，想要爭奪冠軍，他們就得要在賽程上作出調整。」
